In the language of astrology, luminaries are a celestial term that refers to the Sun and the Moon. These cosmic sources of influence and inspiration illuminate the two most basic aspects of the psyche. The Sun represents your individual identity. The Moon reflects your inner, emotional needs - your soul - your inner mood. Most people know their Sun Sign, and many can identify some basic, dominant characteristics. But your Moon Sign plays just as important a role in the make-up of your personality while focusing on your emotions.
Eclipses run in pairs, occurring two or three times a year at the New and Full Moon. When the Sun and Moon are conjunct – together in the same degree of the same sign – we have a New Moon, which kicks off a new lunar cycle. It’s a time of beginnings. When the Sun and Moon are opposed (in the same degree but on opposite sides of the zodiac) we have a Full Moon. Full Moons are the peak of the cycle, the ‘high tide’ mark, and can represent the peak of emotional intensity.
Solar eclipses occur at the New Moon, and lunar eclipses happen on a Full Moon. Both the New and Full Moon phases are energetically loaded, and when they correspond with eclipses, that volume gets turned way up. Eclipse cycles can be stressful, as they inevitably indicate change. The changes can be major or hardly noticeable, depending on how directly the eclipse influences your personal chart, but can also have a strong effect on your solar sun sign chart. Your habits and patterns can get interrupted as new information is revealed during an eclipse.
This April new Moon solar eclipse on the 19th or 20th, depending on where you are in the world, occurs in Aries, however, it is right on the cusp of Taurus. And as this eclipse is at what’s called a critical degree, 29 or 00 degrees, the intensity is even more elevated. Two weeks later, the full Moon lunar eclipse occurs on May 5th with the Moon in Scorpio and the Sun in Taurus.
Knowledge of your Moon sign, the sign the Moon was in when you were born, can help you to maintain a healthy emotional state. However, for this report, here is a quick guide on how the solar and lunar eclipse will affect your sun sign.
